Organization Description:
The Committee To Save The Trail, (The Committee), is a citizen's watch-dog organization whose aim is to oversee the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park, (The Trail), and keep the outdoor community informed of policies and situations that are adversely affecting or might adversely affect the trail. The Committee does not accept contributions.

About the Committee:
The Committee to Save the Trail was formed in 2004 in response to certain official policies that were negatively affecting the quality of the trail and the trail experience. While we were and still are very concerned about things like excessive cutting of trees along the trail and the harmful creation of vehicle access ramps, we are also concerned about preserving land along the aqueduct. Without doubt, our main issue at present is the permanent preservation of "Snowden Woods," a 30-acre tract that constitutes one of the largest undetermined open spaces anywhere along the 26-mile trail (see below).
The Committee is made up of a small group of ardent trail walkers and trail lovers. We do not have membership or regular meetings at this time, though we encourage input. For the time being, we will concern ourselves only with the northerly portion of the trail - Tarrytown to Croton Dam - since there are other excellent groups that devote themselves to the trail with special emphasis on its southerly portion.
