Residents for a Better Neighborhood

Issues in Brief

AAA Auto Mall (Building Proposal):
We are pleased to announce that the neighborhood won a great victory on Tuesday evening on July 25, 2006. The Village of Ossining Planning Board rejected the plans of the owners of the AAA Auto Mall to build an additional building at 179 North Highland Avenue in Ossining. This means that we can stop attending meetings at least for now, however, the war is not over!
The applicants have appealed the decision Village of Ossining Planning Board to turn down the proposed building and the Ossining Village Atorney's office will be defending the Planning Board's action which at this point is our position too. Click here for more information these issues.

AAA Auto Mall (Enforcement Issues):
The property owners of the buildings at 179 North Highland Avenue in Ossining, NY, that house the AAA Auto Mall, the Body Shop and potentially Hudson Valley Motorcycle Sales still have several conditions that violate Village of Ossining code. These violations now become enforcement issues that fall under the purvue of the Village of Ossining Building Department. Click here for more information these issues.

Hudson Valley Motocycle Sales:
If Hudson Valley Motorcycle Sales moves into 179 North Highland Avenue, the AAA Auto Mall property, the possibility of isuues of excess noise, foul odors, unsightly outside storage, parking on Beach Road as well as motorcycle traffic on Beach Road may become issues. Snowden Woods:
This project is off preparing a Full Environmental Impact Statement before it can proceed so going to the ZBA & PB meetings for this issue is not necessary for now. This project will be monitored for any developments that might effect the Beach Road neighborhood. Click here for more information about this project.

Crawbuckie Nature Preserve:
The Crawbuckie Natiure Preserve is a passive Village park that is located at the end of Beach Road on the river side of the roadway. The Village of Ossining is planning to expand the Preserve by annexing several parcels of Village owned land that are adjecent and south of the current Preserve. The RiverWalk:
This project was initiated by the Village Planning Department is still in the preliminary planning stage. Currently it is dormant waiting for grant moneys. Most of the project is compatible with intrests of BRBPA members with the exception of the part of the plan that possiblly adds additional parking at the end of Beach Road for access to Crawbuckie Nature Preserve.
